Stockyards Country and Western Club

What a great night we had at Stockyards CWC! It was good to see so many there, some we've not seen for a while and some new faces which is always good to see. Pete Redfern gave us three great sets plus several encores, the guys held a shoot out, i'm afraid i can't remember who won. During the night one of our gunfighters went round with a bucket and collected £44 for help the heroes. Once again an excellent trilogy, very well observed.

HI this is Chester D, we paid a visit to North & South, Country and Western Club in St Helens on 3rd December. A club run by Linda, Mike and Reb, it was rather cold when we got there but the warm welcome we got more than made up for that.
Kay D was the artist who gave 100 percent even though she was suffering from Laryngitis, she sang both old and new country, some i've not heard in a while. Mark was the DJ, with Kay D and Mark, the dance floor was never empty. The shootout was won by Logan and runner up was Abiline, This is a club where the welcome is warm and friendly and a great atmosphere, see you there on January 25th for Arizona Storm.

Tonight was Party Night, on stage we had Katie Rhodes and Westridge. Katie did the first spot then there was an interval when all manner of things going on. First the buffet supper, then the shoot out for the Rodeo Pete Trophy. We all got a surprise when one of the oldest gunfighters came out of retirement at 75 yrs young, Tracker won the trophy, his wife Anna said she'll have to clear a space so the trophy can be on display till next time.
Westridge on stage to finish the evening off, Katie joined them for a couple of numbers which went down well with the audience. Everyone got a surprise when Jonathan got down on one knee and proposed to his girl friend, she said YES!

Hi this is Chester D with Octobers report.
This was the first night at out new venue which i'm glad to say went very well!
Lynette Marie had to travel from Scotlandt o entertian us, which was very much appreciated, Lynette gave us three great sets being assisted by Jonny Williams for some of the songs.
We don't have a club night in NOVEMBER, our next night is DECEMBER 10th for our Christmas party starring KATIE RODES and WESTRIDGE.

This is Chester D with my report from Saturday at Stockyards CWC.
We were at a temporary venue, on stage we had Next Of Kin making a very welcome return. They gave us two great sets and the audience didn't want them to leave the stage, so we got FOUR encores, they certainly will be be coming back.
A special thanks to DJ Mark for stepping in whilst Ghostrider was on holiday and thanks to Maria, Marks partner, for looking after a lady that was taken ill before the paramedics arrived.
Next month OCTOBER 22ND will be the FIRST night at our new PERMANENT venue, hope to see you all there.
The new venue has a very large secure car park, room to bring camper vans and caravans for overnight stay.

This is Chester D with my August report from Stockyards CWC. It was a very good night with lots of people, some old friends as well as new, Jonny Williams was our artist this month plus the added surprise of Jonny's partner Lynette Marie joining him on stage for a few numbers.

Now for a little sad news, after seven and a half years Stockyards CWC will be leaving Rumworth Hall, BUT NEVER fear we will be in our new VENUE from 22nd OCTOBER which is ST MARY'S CATHOLIC CLUB , RICHMOND STREET, HORWICH. BL6 5QT. This venue has a large car park room enough for some caravans or campers for an overnight stay, unfortunatlely the room is booked for November but our Christmas party goes ahead on December the 10th.

Ending on a sad note, country DJ JOE BRIERLEY (aka) Running Dog passed away recently after a long illness.
Joe was a larger than life character, R.I.P old friend.

P.S September Stockyards will be held at HORWICH RMI/CRICKET CLUB we have on stage NEXT OF KIN 5 piece band.

This is Chester D with my report from Stockyards CWC, sorry its only a short one been busy. Natalie Diamond duo was the artists on stage, they give us three good sets of country music and DJ Ghosterider kept the dancers happy between the sets.
Once again a good trilogy and thanks to No Hope for doing the shoot out and making it entertaining for the audience.

This is Chester D with Junes report from stockyards. We had on stage Dave Inglis making his first appearance as a solo artist, he gave us three great sets plus encores. Dave had a great repore with the audience. No shoot out tonight but a very well observed Trilogy.

This is Chester D with my April's report from Stockyards CWC. What a night we had with a real good crowd in. Dave Bryan was our artist for the night and he gave us three first class sets of some old and new country songs.
We had a guest DJ, Mark, who was celebrating his 50th birthday and was presented with a cake and cards, Mark was standing in for Ghostrider who was on holiday.

This is Chester D with my March report. At the beginning of the month we had a charity night in aid of Bolton Hospice and raised £513 and he Artist O J Reynolds give half of his fee back to the charity.
The star of the show was Owen's two and a half year old daughter Olivia.
Now for Stockyards, we had making their first appearance at Stockyards CWC, AMERICAN ROUTES and they put a fabulous show of three sets plus numerous encores.
It was good to hear songs that aren't sung too often, there was a good fun shoot out which the gunfighters enjoyed and again a well observed trilogy.

HI Chester D here with my February report from Stockyards cwc. There was a really good crowd in. Paul Taylor gave us a brill performance the best I've seen him and we had a good shoot out and a rather special challenge from Pam & Kev's young grandson (see his photo with wrangler) once again a very well observed Trilogy.

This is Chester D with my 1st report of 2011. Boy does time fly! There was a really good crowd in this evening, we had DONNA WYLDE on stage who give us three great sets plus several encores, as well as our resident DJ Ghostrider spinning good country music.
There was no gunfight this month, but we had a very well observed trilogy.

This is Chester D with my December report from Stockyards CWC. It was our Christmas Party Night and we had the one and only MT ALLEN with JP TAYLOR to entertain us and what a show the lads put on, two fabulous sets plus encores.
The shoot-out was for the RODEO PETE TROPHY, we had two prevous winners in the final with Abalene and No hope. No Hope came out the winner and to top the night off was a great buffet for everyone to enjoy.

This is Chester D with my Novembers report from the Stockyards CWC. We had Louisiana on stage a four piece band from Liverpool with Chrissy Byrne. It was great to see a band that shared the lead singing with great harmonies they give us 3 great sets of country music.
The cowboys did a fun shoot out and donated the gunfight money from the past year £50 to the children's Christmas Party, which was very much appreciated and thanks to all who took part in the trilogy.

This is Chester D with my October report from the STOCKYARDS CWC. The crew had Dave Cash on stage, and what a performance, Dave gave us three great sets of pure country music, even giving the partner dancers tuition. My own particular favourite was the Waylon Jennings song Amanda. I don't think I've heard it sung so well as Dave did.

Once again there was wind-ups from some of the cowboys, sorry there aren't any photo's this month as (a crewmember forgot the camara) not saying who!

This is Chester D with my Septembers report from the Stockyards cwc, we had Fools Gold on stage to entertain us and they sure did with 3 great sets.

After the trilogy Mark our stand in DJ played Alan Jacksons 'Where were you when the world stopped turning', as a tribute to the victims of 9-11 from us all at stockyards, and an extra shot was fired.

This is Chester D with my August report from Stockyards CWC, we had Cajun Moon making their first appearance with us and what a great night we had they were brilliant. We had 3 fabulous sets from them, and the audience didn't want them to leave the stage, so they played several encores, thanks lads.
The gunfighters did a fun shoot out, with eye masks on and swapping gun rigs, to which the whole room enjoyed watching, thanks to you all.
During the night one of the cowboys went round with a collection bucket to get treats for our troops out in Afghanistan which £73 was collected and was handed out to Rumworth Hall to go with what they are doing.

This is Chester with my July report from Stockyards CWC, I'll start by saying that Lynne has stepped down from Stockyards and Gerard & Barbara are now solely running Stockyards CWC and we hope that we can count on your support.

What an entertainer Dave Montana was, we had three fabulous sets from him finishing the night with Garth Brooks favourite 'Friends in Low Places". The guys had a fun shoot out, Lefty and No Hope swapping guns, Rigsi laughed so much I forgot who won, we also had the trilogy which was very well observed.

This is Chester D with my June report from the Stockyards CWC, not many in as usual, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our night, the artist was Paul Martin making his first appearance at the Stockyards, Lefty was at his mischievous best along with our resident DJ Ghosterider.
Our next night is July 10th with another artist making his first visit to our club DAVE MONTANA.

This is Chester D with my report from The Stockyards CWC for May.
What a night we had, altho down in numbers, we had a brilliant night with a new band Next of Kin. The show they put on, more than made up for the low numbers, Next of Kin have a female lead vocalist called Michelle and she has a great voice. One of my particular favourite tracks being the Carrie Underwood song 'I Told You So'. We had DJ Mark standing in for Ghostrider, thanks for doing a great job, also thanks to Rachel for calling the fast-draw (watch-out lads) she did a great job.

HI Chester D here, not as many in at Stockyards cwc last night, but we still had a good night.
Michigan Duo making their stockyards debut and played good country music, my own favourite was Keith Urban song The River.
D J Ghostrider kept the dancers happy with country music to dance to. The shoot out final was between No Hope and Lefty, with No Hope coming out the winner.

Hi Folks, this is Chester D with my March report from Stockyards CWC. What a night we had! The Smokey Mountain Boys were making their first visit to the club and boy what a show they put on of pure country music. There was a great crowd in making for a great atmosphere, lefty got up to his usual mischief when he put a chair in the middle of the dance floor when the boys played his request, all taken in good fun.
I must say a thank you to the gunfighters for doing an excellent fast draw, of which No Hope came out the winner, with Johnny Reb runner up. Once again the trilogy was well observed, as I've said before is a big part of the western scene.

The crew had booked Katie Rhodes but unfortunately Katie had a very bad cold and was only able to do one set, but fortunately for us had brought some friends of hers with her namely West Ridge and boy what a stand in they were. They did two first class sets plus two encore. It was good to see an artist taking care of their appearance on stage thanks for the night Tom& Dave (West Ridge).
No fast draw tonight but once again a well observed trilogy.

Hi Chester here with my December report from Stockyards. I'm afraid it's only a short report, I'm still a bit jet lagged from my Hols in Las Vegas. There was a good crowd in celebrating the Christmas party, plus Samantha celebrating her 12th birthday. I think most people remember Samantha from being born and have watched her grow from a tiny baby to a blossoming young lady. The shoot out tonight was for The Rodeo Pete Memorial Trophy which was won by Rick the Rebel with Woody a close runner up.

What a wild and windy night it was, but people still came out for a night of country music.
On stage we had making their first appearance at Stockyards father and son Jim Ryder and Adam James.
It was good to see Adam back on the road again.
The gave us three great sets of country music as did our resident D J Ghostrider.
Lefty came out winner in the shootout.We had a colection for Mike and Sylvia who dragically died while on holiday in the states.
The will be sadly missed in the country and western scene.Thats all for now folks hope to seeyou all at Stockyards Christmas party on December 12th

What a night we had at Stockyards. We had Raddings and Taylor on stage
Two of my favourite solo artists, on stage as a duo and boy did it work.
A few blips, but as Alan Jackson says they just got up and sang and enjoyed themselves
and it showed.
DJ Ghostrider was back from his holidays and played good country music, between the artist and
DJ the dance floor was full nearly all night.
There were ten gunfighters in the shoot out with JC coming out the winner.
Once again there was an extremely well observed TRILOGY. I know that I mention this
a lot but it is a vital part of the Country & Western scene and something we feel strongly about
at Stockyards.
Looking forward to seeing father and son Jim Ryder and Adam James next month for their first
visit to Stockyards.

Yet another good night, with a good crowd in. Some old friends and some new ones. Richard Palmer was our artist this month and put on a first class show even joining the dancers between sets. We had a stand in DJ Outrider Country DJ
As Alan was sunning himself on holiday but he will be back next month
Both Richard and the DJ kept the dance floor full all night with line and partner dancing.
There wasn’t many in the fast draw this month but the guys enjoyed it and the challenge that they did afterwards.

Hi Chester D here with his monthly report from Stockyards cwc. Last night was yet another good night, not quite as many in but that didn’t stop us from having a great night. There were ten in the fast draw I’m sorry I can’t remember who won but the finalist were JD and Sanantone they then had a challenge with lot of laughter, the trilogy was well supported and very well observed.
Interstate 509 gave us a first class performance as did resident DJ Ghostrider keeping the dance floor full. Even Colin and Linda got up to dance Working Man which was good to see as was seeing Colin dressed in gear once more.
There were a couple of celebrations Lefty is coming up to his 70th birthday everyone signed a card for him, and Colin (pathfinder) and his wife Linda were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary. Bye the way thanks Colin for calling the fast draw tonight.

Chester D here with his monthly report from Stockyards CWC.
Yet another good crowd in Westerners, Dancers, and listeners. This month we had Double Barrel to entertain us and they sure did that, they sang a good mixture of country music both old and modern day country. Tony was singing Crystal Chandeliers telling the story of people throwing beer mats at him for singing that particular song so everyone did, all taken in good spirit. Not many in the shoot out tonight which was won by Lefty with Abilene runner up. Forgive me for saying this but once again a very well obseverved Trilogy which is very much appreciated by the organisers. A message for Montana get well soon after your recent accident from us all at Stockyards. That’s all for now folks till next time.

What a night we had at Stockyards on Saturday. Dave Cash was on top form he did three great sets of pure country music plus two encores. His last song you could have heard a pin drop the words were so moving. Dave was making his first appearance at Stockyards I’m sure it won’t be his last. He did take a bit of stick with the crew and Colin on his buggy with a horse’s head and a tail, even Benny Hill ( Dave the light man) asked Cashy had he seen his cart which made for a good night. Hi this Chester D with May report from Stockyards. We had another great crowd in old friends and new ones. Jonny Williams was the artist this month he came hot foot from a gig in Grimsby. We got three good sets of pure country music finishing with praise the Lord with plenty of audience participation.
Our resident DJ (tanned from his hols) was his usual best keeping the dancers happy. Not a great many in the shoot out, of which BO came out the winner.

We had another good crowd in tonight a warm welcome to the people who haven’t been before. Fool’s Gold were making their first appearance at Stockyards
They gave us a varied selection of music and kept the dance floor full all night and did two encores at the end of their last spot.

First a short report from the Charity night on March 7thas Alf Roberts was in. The night was in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice. When the Sum of £1300 was raised in the presence of The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton.
Now for Stockyards CWC on the 14th March. It was a near packed house for the visit of MT ALLAN . They gave three fabulous sets of country music with comedy as well even getting the crowd going with a Mexican Wave while they sang wave on wave, Malc and Davy finished the night off with Out in a Blaze of Glory but that wasn’t enough they then gave three encores. Part way through their act they got presented with Easter eggs with their names on. There were twenty Gunfighters in the shootout tonight with Abilene and Moonlight in the final of which Moonlight came out the winner. Thanks to everyone for supporting country music at its best.

What a night it was at stockyards. Donna Wylde was the artist for this month and boy did she put on a show. You could tell why she was voted Best British Female artist; she sang pure country when she did her third encore Sapphire (one of our western ladies) got up on stage and sang with her No one seemed to want to go home the atmosphere was so good. There were 14 gunfighters in the shootout which Little Reb beet Lefty. After the shootout Gerard Barbara & Lyn were called to the floor were they got a full sword salute and a huge round of applause for organizing stockyardss for 5 years. Hears to the next 5 years.
